Geotagging and Analysis of Watersheds in
Manipur

Watersheds provide a multitude of ecosystem services for upstream and downstream people in Manipur. Forests and water are important natural resources for rural livelihoods and increasingly important for the recreation demand of a rapidly urbanizing society in Manipur.

The purpose of this GIS analysis exercise is to create a base for taking decisions on
designing the interventions for physical structures as well as livelihoods. This information
will help:

There are a total number of 263 watersheds in Manipur, which have been analyzed through Geographic Information Systems.
The total area of the state is around 22,327 square kilometres, which covers all the 263 watersheds in the state.
